<p>José Craveirinha is considered the greatest Mozambican poet and one of the most important voices in Portuguese-language African literature. Born in Lourenço Marques (now Maputo) in 1922, the son of a Portuguese father and Ronga mother, Craveirinha intensely experienced the contradictions and riches of Mozambican colonial society.</p>
